Hello mates! Do you have any info about today Windows update? Is it safe to install it on Eve? Previous update crashed my V, I had to reinstall everything! Please let me know, is it smooth?
Havenât tried⌠still backing up my system
No problems on my V.
It is difficult to âescapeâ Windows updates for ever!
Why not, just for âin case ifâ reasons, make a backup before an update?
Itâs Windows so updating will never be safeâŚ
Now more seriously: Make regular backups (especially before updates) and delay Windows feature updates (look up how to; should be somewhere in Settings->Update and security).
I am thinking to create a custom ROM for Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 LTSB/LTSC, as LTSC is also getting updated in 1809.
They should provide similar look-and-feel (I plan to make the Home version clean), except LTSB wont get another feature update within the next 2 years (only security updates) and requires a different license. (I will provide both without license, but the Home should activate automatically on the V)
Let me know the (official) ISO/WIM like for this new update
Well, it certainly will keep one protected against the âsharks living in murky window watersâ, but doesnât it oblige to live with the the bugs / security imperfections too?
The 1809 is not necessarily due today. If anyone got the update today which is not like other minor monthly update, please do tell.
Thanks
Itâs good to wait a while before installing the next big update - just in case. Thereâs going to be news pretty quick on tech websites, if something doesnât work as expectedâŚ
Hereâs instructions if you want to delay the download and installation of Windows updates on Windows 10 Home:
Itâs easier to delay updates in Windows 10 Pro (ignore that itâs talking about anniversary update):
I m rectifying what I said. The 1809 is installable from Windows update since now.
If WU doesnât show you the update you can get Update Assistant or Media Creation tool from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

âŚ
I may wait for two weeks to see what the bugs/ quirks and other blue screens are reported.
same here. if someone decides to install the update, let us know if everything works!
Thank you for your info: It did at first not work at all, until I realized that somewhere somehow my w10 pro has been downgraded to windows.
Happily it was even easy to change it back to w10 pro.
Imagine how long should it have taken to discover the downgrade without your post ?
âWindows oh windows, what will I sayâ: quote from an unknown poet
Updated - no issues. Only problem was not signed O&O DiskImage 11 virtual disk driver - uninstalled.
For ultimate trolling they shouldâve called this future âmojaveâ
I have installed the update this morning and so far I havenât seen any issues. Everything works flawlessly for me. The battery life seems a bit shorter, but I would presume that will go back to normal after a few power cycles.
Everything works for me. No issues encountered.
Installed yesterday, works fine here too
