Future Firmware

Hi @ReignDespair ,

I and probably the community are interested in future firmware updates.
Most interessting things are:

  • What get fixed in the next version?
  • When is a new firmware planed?
  • Future software features?
  • Status of current software updates.

Best regards

Thank you for answering.

Is there a timeline or expected release date?

They recently shipped out the Spectrum end of June and just recently released firmware 104. That was about a 3 months wait for the latest firmware. If they are going to send one out every 3 months then the next firmware should be around late December or January. I would safely bet at least by end of January since there are a lot of holidays coming up that will slow down firmware development.
@Yep Eve are working on more Mac firmware support. It should be in an upcoming firmware.

I am currently testing a HDR and tone mapping firmware for them, specifically at greyscale issue with AMD hardware implementing Freesync Premium Pro.

It does solve the greyscale issue for me.

Would this be similar to the issue I am getting? Red Dead Redemption 2, game goes greyscale when launching with DX12 and HDR enabled.

I am using a Nvidia RTX3090.

Another tester using the same firmware and a 3080 was getting greyscale still.

Whats the criteria to be a tester for these firmwares?

Aside from the HDR issues in Windows 11, the only other big thing I hope Eve is working on is the time it takes the monitor to switch modes (ex. 120Hz to 60Hz and vice versa). There’s a lag of 5 - 10+ seconds on PS5 and PC. It should be instantaneous.

Same with macOS, switching modes or displays is painfully slow and often the display will end up unable to find an input when there is one.

do we expect future firmware to fix the flickering issues I’m experiencing? for nearly $800 for a monitor this really isn’t something I should have to tolerate…

No flickering issue for me after buying a certified hdmi 2.1 cable. Try different cables. Try different ports on the monitor and gpu to see if that help. if nothing contact support and get a new monitor under warranty.

What are you experiencing? Eve have agreed the flickering with my display is a fault and will replace it.

I switch b/w my Mac and PC multiple times daily and this has been a serious pain – really hoping it gets ironed out in the next firmware update.
