Hi, I am loving the Spectrum so far, but there is one small issue. Whenever it is off or in standby, a high-pitched, almost inaudible buzzing noise can be heard. It comes from the monitor, not the power supply, and I wonder if that is normal or there is a reason to worry. Thanks in advance
Some users are having the same issue. Some users updated the firmware which helped reduce the whine sound. Eve Is still looking into it further.

Yeah coil whine is annoying with this display but thereâs not a lot they can do at this stage, itâs hardware. Do you have anything plugged into the USB-C port? I find that causes a whining noise louder than the others. HDR coil whine was actually fixed with a firmware update.
i have no coil whine that I can hear. that is with hdr on and off. i only have two hdmi 2.1 cables plug into my monitor. only time i use usb-c port on the monitor is to update the firmware. even then i dont hear any whine.
I have nothing plugged into the USB ports. The weird thing is that the noise can even be heard when the monitor is off
As Carl has stated, we are aware of the issue and are looking into it.
If you would like, you could upgrade to version 105 and see if that fixes the issue. If not, you can always roll back to 102/104.

Iâm very interested to know what technically causes this, or what 105 speculates causes this.
Coil whine usually means a power regulator is under load, but there shouldnât really be anything under load in standby conditions, right?
I hear it too, only in standby. My cat hears it better. 
Iâm also experiencing this. I only have a DisplayPort cable connected on two monitors. Both are whining quite loudly. I hear the whine while in standby or while powered off. It is much louder in standby. I havenât tried firmware 105 yet and am currently running 104. Iâm really hoping this can be resolved either by firmware or RMA. My bedroom is also my office so I can hear the whine when trying to sleep. Other than that the monitors have been fabulous so far.

Unfortunately, we do not know the exact cause of the coil whine issue that some users have been experiencing but I do know that fw team are aware of this.

- If the coil wine occurs when the monitor is off / standby / on?
- Please can you DM me a video showing the presence and severity of the noise?
@MarvyMarvz The coil whine occurs most audible when the monitor is on, but before it detects the 4k source. Once there is a picture on the screen, the whine pitch goes up so much that it becomes less audible to human ears. My cat responds to it. I donât hear it on a simple video recording. I may borrow a microphone and try again.

Are people still experiencing this? Iâve noticed this on my spectrum once the display is off (but powered)
only connected to my MacBook Pro M1 (USB-C).
Its loud enough for me to hear it at night and have to unplug the monitor completely⊠Seems to disappear (at least not noticeable) when the monitor is back on and in use. I would say it originates from the right side of the monitor, more noticeable when I place my ear towards the right/back side.
Is this a hardware problem and Iâm out of luck here?

Electromagnetically-induced acoustic noise (commonly known as âcoil whineâ) refers to sound produced when electrical components (usually transformers or inductors) vibrate at an audible frequency. This happens in almost all electrical devices, and though it is usually at a frequency and volume that is inaudible to humans, there are cases where you can hear it coming from your devices.
There is no need for concern, as it is perfectly safe and does not affect the performance or durability of the electronics. We understand that it can be annoying when it occurs, especially to people who use their devices in a quiet environment, or to users who are particularly sensitive to such frequencies.

Yeah it appears to be most audible when the display is turned off (no source - but powered). I only have a USB-C connection to a MacbookPro M1 at the moment.
I tested a few scenarios and couldnât seem to stop it whilst the display was off (but powered) like others in this thread. Unsure if there is future firmware updates that will resolve this or at least minimise the effects, or is it looking like that is just how the Spectrum âbehavesâ hardware wise?

This is just how the Spectrum behaves.
Some users can hear it more than others and sometimes itâs just non-existent. I donât believe my Spectrum produces the coil whine noise but I think that is down to my ears not being as sensitive as others.
Unfortunately, minimising the effects is something we canât do via firmware updates but I believe firmware updates do have indirect impacts on the coil whine.

Hello, I am an EVE fan from China, my monitor has been used for about 3 months, now there is a problem:
Display in the condition of interest rates screen, can be heard display coil of zi zi zi, display during boot work is normal, I checked the relevant posts, found our BBS someone have the same problem, I am 107 the latest firmware, USB is the latest firmware, also asked the China agent after-sale, said that they had never seen this kind of situation, will not be after-sales support, Now DURING THE NIGHT SLEEP, I WILL GIVE THE MONITOR POWER OFF, OR INDUCtor SOUND in the dead of night listen very clearly, more distressed, hope the new firmware, as soon as possible to solve this problem, thank you, love EVE forever.

It uses an uplink USB cable, a Bluetooth adapter and a wireless mouse receiver on the hub
